ABOUT

Geaux Swim was started by two local families looking to bring a safe, fun, community-based swim program to Shreveport-Bossier.

Our guiding principle is to promote safety, education and conservation in a fun environment that fosters an experience that will last long after the swim lesson is over.

We are parents too, and understand how busy life is and continues to get:

  • Prices are set up on a monthly basis and are run automatically
  • We offer make up sessions
  • Easy class transfers
  • Worry Free Cancellation Policy
  • Family discounts offered
  • Multiple classes are held at the same time, so families with multiple children can attend swim lessons at the same time (or relatively close)
  • Schedules and pricing are available to see without the additional steps of creating an account or calling for more information
  • Able to book up to 4 weeks in advance

A common first question we receive is how Geaux Swim divides our swim classses - By age first 😊 and for several reasons!

One of those reasons: Attention Span
Younger children typically have shorter attention spans compared to older ones. By grouping children of similar ages together, instructors can structure classes with activities that are engaging and manageable for the attention span of this age group.

Geaux Tots - 1.5 - 3yrs old
Starting with permission to enter the water, TOTS will move on to floating skills, practicing their bubbles and breath control, and various paddling exercises. While students wait their turn, we encourage light and seated play with various pool toys offered.

Geaux Tot classes can be found on our class portal here:

Safety is one of the biggest reasons we divide our swim instruction by age groups.

Swim - Youth (6-12yrs)
This class covers one of our largest age ranges, from 6 years old to 12. Grouping children by this age group allows instructors to focus and connect with students who are cognitively ready to learn the fundamentals of learning how to swim AND communicate any fears they have of the water. Younger children may need more emphasis on water confidence and basic water safety skills, while older children may have to overcome older established fears. When taught together, this vast age group inspires each other. “That kid jumped into the water… I think I will be okay too” or “That kid jumped into the water and I am still scared… maybe I can tell the teacher this.”

A common first question we receive is how Geaux Swim divides our swim classses.
We divide by age range first! Dividing swim classes by age range is beneficial for several reasons! We want to introduce a very common level: Geaux Pre-School

Pre-School - Age range 3 - 5 year olds

So, why separate by age?
For Socialization between the swimmers: Age-appropriate swim classes provide opportunities for children to interact with peers who are at a similar stage of development. This socialization can enhance their learning experience by fostering camaraderie, teamwork, and peer support. Similar to how students do “Show-and-Tell” in their daycare, they will watch their swim friends to “Watch-and-Learn.”
